Our story
WHO WE ARE
We are the Shasta Growers Association (SGA) — a community of local farmers, growers, and artisans behind the Redding Certified Farmers Markets. We grow what we sell and champion local fresh food.
Our story starts in 1977, when California created its Certified Farmers Market Program. We formed the SGA right at the start, becoming one of the very first farmers market associations in the state.
Today we operate four markets: three in Redding and one in Burney, all certified through the Shasta County Agricultural Commissioner and the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

What "certified" means for you
CERTIFIED & LOCAL
A Certified Farmers Market isn't the same as a grocery store or a roadside stand. Here's the difference.
Inspected
Our farmers are inspected by the county and state to confirm they sell only what they grow — no reselling, no mystery origins.
Buy Direct
You buy directly from the person who planted, raised, and harvested it. Ask them anything about how your food was grown.
Stay Local
Your dollars stay in the North State, supporting family farms and the local agricultural economy.
Our Mission
"To root the North State in its rich agricultural heritage by providing a direct marketplace for the highest quality regional produce, artisanal goods, and prepared foods."
